SIMON'S KLOOF COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NPC (SKCID)

About us

Simon’s Town is known for its gorgeous beaches, rich history and the colony of African penguins that call it home. Quaint buildings line the historical mile.

Simon’s Kloof is a distinct community, one level up within the historical mile, bordering picturesque Runciman Drive. From this elevated position Simons Kloof residents overlook False Bay and the quaint buildings along Main Road as it winds through Simon’s Town.

It nestles against the backdrop of the beautiful open mountains with innumerable picturesque hiking trails.  These include the Just Nuisance Steps and the Admiral’s waterfall. Entry is through distinct gables bordered by a beautifully crafted garden, into Nelson Drive with its imposing gabions.

It is indeed a community like no other – enjoying statuesque sea and mountain views, with an abundance of indigenous flora and fauna.

Environment

Preservation of our unique biodiverse environment is key.  Programs include managing clean and safe community roads and verges,  managing alien vegetation whilst co-habiting with indigenous wildlife and birds.

Fire Management

Backing onto a mountainside with frequent extreme wind conditions and highly flammable indigenous flora,  requires additional fire support equipment and training.

Security

Increasing crime stats resulted in an increased focus in community vigilance though community cameras and dedicated patrols. This ongoing focus has produced positive results.
